The researchers at the German Historical Institute are dedicated to historical and musicological research pertaining to Italy from the Middle Ages to the present day. Our research is comparative, encompassing relational and transregional history, with a particular focus on Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. We also have a strong focus on the digital humanities. Exchanges, international cooperation and the promotion of young researchers are central to our work. The location of our institute offers excellent working conditions, with its libraries, archives and research facilities.
