2000–2005 M.A. in History and Modern Languages and Literature at the University of Florence and the Humboldt University Berlin; 2005–2006 M.Phil. in Modern European History at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge. 2006–2011 Ph.D. in History at Trinity Hall, Cambridge with a dissertation entitled "Commercial advertising in Germany and Italy, 1918–1943", funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Trinity Hall and the Cambridge European Trust. Elected JWT Fellow at Duke University (NC, 2009) and Royal Historical Society Centenary Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research, London (2009–2010). 2010–2011 historical consultant for the Commission for Looted Art in Europe, in collaboration with the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies. 2011–2014 Junior Research Fellow at Newnham College, Cambridge. Since 2014 Research Associate and co-organiser of the Humanities Society at Wolfson College and the Faculty of History, University of Cambridge. 2015–2017 Visiting Professorship and Marie Curie Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg and the Department of History and Sociology, University of Konstanz. Since February 2018 Research Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg and PI of the project The Restitution of Looted Cultural Property in the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy and Austria, 1945–1998, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG "Eigene Stelle"). Since December 2018 until 2022 Project Researcher at the German Historical Institute in Rome.

Modern and contemporary history of Germany, Italy and Austria; social and cultural history of Fascism and Nazism; comparative Fascism studies; the history of consumption; the commercialization of politics in 20th and 21st century Europe; media history; the evolution of women's role and representation in 20th-century Europe; the history of the Italian Resistance; the politics of art and heritage from 19th century to the present
