Since 1 July 2002, the DHI Rome is part of the Stiftung Deutsche Geisteswissenschaftliche Institute im Ausland (Foundation of German Humanities Institutes Abroad), which has been renamed
Max Weber Stiftung - Deutsche Geisteswissenschaftliche Institute im Ausland in July 2012. The foundation comprises the following institutes:
