Theresa Jäckh, Raumgeschichte einer Hauptstadt

The city of Palermo underwent several waves of religious and political expansion in the period 800 to 1200 AD. This study highlights the multiple effects on the city by analysing the transformation of urban spaces under Muslim and Christian rule. The chosen approach offers new insights into local social negotiating processes, which are very significant in the (central) Mediterranean region, also from a supra-regional perspective.
